Pasig City, Feb 9, 2017 – LCDPFI, in partnership with Accenture Philippines started the year right with an Employers’ Forum. The event, which took place January 16 at the Marco Polo Hotel in Ortigas, brought together companies who had been employing people with disabilities including those who maintain workplace inclusion and diversity programs.

The organizers invited two key note speakers: Ms. Carmen Zubiaga of National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and Mr. Grant Havier of Unilab Foundations. Both speakers gave the participants a wonderful time by giving them insights into who people with disabilities really are and what their needs are. They also share their actual experiences in hiring people with disabilities.

Other companies such as ANZ, HENKEL, HSBC, JP Morgan, Unilab Foundation, Shell Services also joined the event aside from participants from Accenture Philippines and LCDPFI themselves.

Aside from the keynote speeches, a panel discussion was also held to answer questions from the participants. The panel was composed of NCDA’s OIC Carmen Zubiaga, Unilab Foundation’s Grant Havier, LCDPFI chairperson Lourdes Reyes, Accenture Managing Director in Technology Douglas Iballe who is also Inclusion and Diversity Executive Sponsor.  Joining the panel also was Bunny Joaquin, founder and training director of SHINE Intervention Center and Jesper Madsen the Human Resource Director of Accenture Philippines.

All in all, the 2017 Employers’ forum was a success! It not just gathered all groups that promote the right to work of the people with disabilities; it also strengthened the will of all participants in pushing their inclusion into different workplaces as well as in the society. DCT
